What type of visas for Peru are there?

A work visa is required if you would like to live and work in Peru. Many employers are only willing to hire foreigners when their work visa is already established and the employee is allowed to work in Peru.
You may also apply for a work visa as CEO of your own company. Setting up a company in Peru is a straightforward process, we’re happy to assist you with this part of your immigration process, too.
When you apply for a work visa in Peru for the first time, you’ll be given a temporary visa which needs to be renewed every year. After three years, you can apply for a permanent visa.
Requirements
- Police Clearance Certificate
- With a temporary visa, you need to be living at least 183 days a year in Peru.
- The duration of your Peruvian work contract needs to be between 1-3 years.
- The visa has to be renewed yearly, therefore the immigration office needs proof that your job is real. As an extra service, we provide you with a yearly reminder email about this matter.

The rentista or retirement visa provides you with a permanent residency permit and does not have to be renewed. Another advantage is that there is no need to present any documentation at the airport when you are travelling outside of Peru. If you can prove an additional income of USD 500 per person it is possible to extend the visa for family members as a wife, husband or children.
Requirements
- Police Clearance Certificate from your country of origin or from a country where legally resided for 5 years (with apostille)
- You need to have a permanent, monthly income from your home country of minimum USD 1,000, for example, a pension, dividends from a company outside Peru, with “Apostille” stamp (The Hague Convention)
- Savings bank account in Perú
- Monthly wire transfer of your income from abroad to an account in Peru in your name
- Personal declaration about the origin of your money
- RESTRICTION: You are not allowed to work as an employee for a local or Peruvian company in Peru.
You are already in Peru, but your family members are still in your home country? Or you are married to a Peruvian and want to become a resident? - Your marriage, or birth certificate, with Apostille certificate.
- Police Clearance Certificate, with the “Apostille” stamp or certified by a Peruvian Consulate

- Support of your family members with Interpol registration in Lima,
- IMPORTANT: All legal papers from abroad must be newly issued and will then have a validity of 6 months in Peru
- We will take care of the official translation of your documents (included in our legal fees)
- Regular follow up on the process and we will report you every step we take
- We will book the appointments for your “biometric” process (photo, signature and finger prints) and accompany you to collect your Peruvian Id (carné de extranjería, in Spanish)
- Your family members can come to Peru with a tourist visa and we will start the process before this visa expires
If you have legally lived in Peru for at least three years, you can apply for a permanent visa. With a permanent visa, you are no longer required to spend at least 183 days in Peru.
Requirements:
- You legally lived in Peru with a temporary work visa or a family-related visa
- Your legal residency starts as soon as your visa is approved (not when you enter the country with a tourist visa)
- After the approval of your temporary visa you spent at least 183 of each 365 days in Peru (your “visa year” does NOT start on Jan 1 but on the day your visa was approved)
- You need to have a yearly income of at least S/. 49,500.00

The Student Visa allows you to spend a year in Peru as a student, but you are not allowed to work while staying in Peru on a student Visa. If your study program is longer than one year, the visa can be renewed.
Requirements
- Passport Valid for one year before expire
- Tourist visa, valid, before to expire
- Clearance Police Certificate with Apostille stamp, or Peruvian embassy in your country
- Interpol certificate in Peru
- Document of matriculation issued by the legal representative of an officially recognized educational institution.
- Proof of sufficient funds for living in Peru.
